This is apparently a good way to get engine cases clean, and doesn't involve any abrasives or harsh chemicals, which is a good thing. I am very worried that the close tolerances inside the engine not be damaged. I even discovered I have some non-phosphate detergent, which seems to be a good thing to avoid contamination on the aluminum. "We'll see." To set doubtless shrieking minds at ease: this is the step I'm taking after I scrubbed them thoroughly in kerosene, and dried them off. They're pretty clean, and this is just kind of a final step. Hopefully they'll come out all purty and sparkly (although I'll settle for clean and dry).
