Le Mans gas mileage

Posted April 1, 2003

Here's the latest graph of miles per gallon. The downward mileage trend is not looking so dire, but that's because I've taken to using the bike as more of a distance machine, and less of a commuter bike. The answer is that this motorcycle just doesn't perform efficiently in the city.

High points are mostly highway riding, the lower points are all in-city riding. The very lowest point at 2700 miles was where a playful mechanic drained a gallon of gas out of my tank as a joke.

Here is the raw data behind these graphs.

The green line shows the running average (mathematical mean) of gas mileage. Each graph shows its generation date near the bottom of the chart.

This graph shows the same information, but in litres per 100km, and the distance travelled in kilometers, for our European readers. Smaller numbers represent better efficiency.
